Set-Up Instructions: Windows 95

NOTE: As of December 31 2001, Microsoft no longer supports the Windows 95 operating system as it has reached it's operational "End Of Life" (EOL). It is recommended that Windows 95 users update to the latest Microsoft operating system software to remain up-to-date. Please see the following Microsoft "Windows Desktop Product Lifecycle Guidelines" page for more information.

The following instructions explain how to set-up Windows 95 to dial and connect to Tellurian Networks.

Step 1: Setting up the connection

  1. Double-click the My Computer Icon

  2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking Icon

  1. Double-click Make New Connection

  1. Type in Tellurian Networks for the name of the computer you want to connect to.

  2. Your modem should already be displayed. If it isn't, consult your Windows95 documentation for information on how to set up your modem for use with Windows95.

  3. Click Next>

  1. Leave the Area Code box empty and type in the 10 digit telephone number provided to you by Tellurian Networks.

IMPORTANT! The phone number displayed below is an example only, please click here to find an access number that is a local non-toll number for you.

  1. Click Next>, then Finish

  1. Single-click the new tellurian Networks icon with the RIGHT mouse button, and select Properties

  1. In the Phone Number section, make sure the Use Country Code and Area Code option is not checked

  2. Click the Server Type Button

  1. The Type of Dial-Up Server should be set to PPP: Windows95, WindowsNT 3.5, Internet

  2. In the Advanced Options Section, make sure:

    • Enable Software Compression should be checked
    • Log On to Network should be unchecked
    • Require Encrypted Password should NOT be checked
    • TCP/IP should be the only protocol checked. Uncheck IPX and NetBUEI

  1. Click OK two times

Step 2: Creating a Tellurian Networks icon on your Desktop.

The task of dialing Tellurian Networks can be automated by creating a shortcut to the Tellurian Networks dialer on your Desktop. To create a shortcut on your Desktop to dial Tellurian Networks, complete the following:

  1. Double-click the My Computer Icon

  1. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking Icon

  1. Single-click the new Tellurian Networks icon with the RIGHT mouse button.

  1. Single-click the LEFT mouse button to select Create Shortcut.

  2. The following message will appear:

  1. Click Yes to create the shortcut on your desktop.

Congratulations, you should have a shortcut on your desktop that looks similar to this:

To see your shortcut to Tellurian Networks, close the Dialup Networking and the My Computer windows by clicking on the X in the top right-hand corner of the windows. If you do not see the Tellurian Networks shortcut icon on your desktop, repeat this entire Step 1 - Connecting to Tellurian Networks.

Final Step: Connecting!

Double-click the new Tellurian Networks Icon. You will be prompted for your username and password. The username is your email address without tellurian.com. Make sure that your username AND password are both typed in lower case. As an option, you may check save password to avoid having to type in the password manually each time you connect.
